Visit for free equipment manual downloads. Glad you got your film okay Akshay, tried to reply to your e-mail Got a nice little reel here Akshay entitled"This is 'Scope" in col/sndĪll I require is your address and it's yours my ol' flower.
Supposed I have them all, do I need this lens or 2x lens?įor watching super 8 commercial releases you need a 2X anamorphic lens.Īkshay, haven't you any 'scope film at all to show? You know all Derann scope prints, CHC prints, Red Fox prints, Cienavision prints, etc, etc
On reflection Martin, you're absolutely right and I'm wrong,ofĬourse if it's shot in 2x and shown 2x it's got to be "normal"įirst I thought I have understood.

Professionals use 2.35.1.The only "true" 'scope prints are the ANIMEX prints that gave the full aspect ratio to avoid cut offĪnd also cure the over stretching by the black bands either side With respect 's us the amateurs that are in fact overstretching the image by projecting at 266.1 whereas the That's why, as I mentioned before, the width of the image on the film is actually LESS than the frame width (Black masking)giving you a 2.35 picture with a 2X anamorphic. If the print has been MADE with a 2x, it should be PROJECTED with a 2X, otherwise people with appear thinner on screen.
I think you are confusing "Screen width" with "People width". Hypergonar is perfect,as you'd expect from it's creator. Ratio being 2.33.1 whereas ours is 2.66.1.Therefore the little Little bit of their film for additional soundtracks. The correct aspect Just slightly too wide, because the professionals used up that I would then stick with 2x anamorphic lens.Īctually the lens is perfect for the screening of commercial film,īecause a 2x compressoin actually makes the amateur screen This lens is intended to be used with 8 mm (and Super 8) cameras and projectors for making YOUR OWN "CinemaScope" films in the correct modern CinemaScope ratio. No, Commercial prints are made with a 2:1 "squeeze", so for projection of such prints you MUST use one of the many 2X Anamorphic attachments. Is this lens (with 1.75 compression) good to show majority scope films released on super 8mm? There is so many technical info both in the Ebay description and in this forum about this lens where as a novice I need only one aswer. The attachment I use for projection of Super 8 Commercial prints is my Home Made one which is now over 55 years old! In addition to being focusable for filming it has large front and rear elements. I have a beautiful Magnarama 1.75X Anamorphic which I used to use for filming: this gave me the correct ratio.
However, Super 8 Commercial prints were made with a 2:1 compression, which accounts for the black masking at the frame sides on Super 8 to achieve the correct ration on screen. Subsequently, the ratio was reduced to 2.35:1,which needed a 1.75:1 (actually 1.76)compression to fit the standard frame. Early CinemaScope was filmed with 2:1 ratio giving a 2.66:1 Ratio from a standard 4:3 Academy frame. The real point of the 1.75:1 ratio is related to the change in CinemaScope ratios soon after its inception. Pity is: I don't have any scope features! This is the exact same lens that Joe sold to Akshay some weeksĪgo that wasn't even treated seriously on this forum. I'm selling one, simply as I got two of them. "Baby Hypergonar" anamorphic lens, designed by the Henri Chrétien, inventor of the Hypergonar and anamorphic lenses himself, in excellent condition. I'm selling a rare and ultra-lightweight 8mm Berthiot S.T.O.P. Topic: For Sale: Rare 8mm Cinemascope Anamorphic "Baby Hypergonar"
